Lane is on the move again, this time bringing a fresh layer of sand to the front of our barn. We’ve been using sand in our barn for quite some time and, boy oh boy, do our horses and donkeys just love it! So, we thought it’d be fun to share the ‘sandy’ secrets behind this simple, yet fantastic choice.

Here are 5 reasons why we’re all about sand:

1️⃣ Hoof Health: The sand acts as a natural buffer, keeping our horses and donkeys’ hooves in top shape by gently buffing them and preventing overgrowth. Their hooves are shinier and healthier!

3️⃣ Rolling Pleasure: Our animals absolutely love to roll around in the sand! It’s a joy to watch them relax and play, shedding any loose hair and skin in the process.

4️⃣ Drainage: Sand provides excellent drainage, keeping the overhang drier and reducing the risk of bacterial and fungal infections during the winter months.
