Homesteading, Farming and Farmsteading What’s the Difference?

Homesteading, Farming and Farmsteading what’s the difference and our definitions… we’d love to hear yours!

🌱 HOMESTEADING is often about getting back to basics, focusing on self-sufficiency, and living a life more in tune with nature. It’s about growing your food, raising animals, and reducing reliance on external systems. We totally dig that!

🚜Then there’s FARMING – agriculture on a larger scale. This is more about producing crops and livestock primarily for sale. It’s a vital part of how the world gets fed.

🌼 🚜🌱🫏🐓🐐 So, what’s FARMSTEADING? For us, it’s the best of both worlds—growing, raising and creating enough to sustain our family, with the surplus heading to the local niche markets. It’s our way of staying connected to the land and our community. It’s about being sustainable, but also about growing in your self sufficiency but also being a sustainable business. We’re constantly learning, adapting, and growing – both as a small scale farm and towards being an active provider of our own healthy food supply.

Whether it’s tending to our vegetable patches, caring for our animals, or creating products from the things we grow, every day is an adventure. We’re not just growing crops; we’re growing a life that’s rooted in community.

We believe there’s no one-size-fits-all in this journey. Maybe you’re a backyard gardener, an off-grid homesteader, or a seasoned responsible farmer whatever your path, it’s valuable, and it’s needed.

💬 We’d love to hear your story! Are you a dabbler? A homesteader at heart? A farmer in the fields? Or maybe something in between? Share your thoughts!

Whatever you call it— designing the life that you have dreamed of (even baby steps) — now that’s BombDiggity!
