#FarmSunday Devotional: Be Glad in God

Be Glad in God: Have you ever kept a gratitude journal or done a 30-day challenge of things you are grateful for? The exercise is simple: each day, you jot down one or two things you’re thankful for. It’s amazing how this practice shifts your perspective, making even the hard days a little bit brighter. A gratitude journal is more than a collection of nice thoughts; it’s a reminder of the blessings we sometimes overlook.

Philippians 3:1a says, “And that’s about it, friends, be glad in God.” In fact, the whole book of Philippians is centered about joy and rejoicing in Him, no matter the circumstances. Paul’s words serve as a powerful exclamation point on the idea that, no matter what is happening in our lives, we should dig deep and simply be glad in God.

Paul’s mindset permeated his life. Even when facing trials, opposition, and pain, he found a way to rise above it all by remaining centered in God. He didn’t ignore his struggles, but he knew where to focus. When we embrace this God-centered mindset, our perspective can change!

Think about the challenges we all face—work stress, life disappointments, unsettling news in the world. These things can pull us down if we let them. But Philippians reminds us that we have a way to rise above, to step into a mindset fixed on God.

What do we have to be glad about?

  • We have been forgiven of our sins.
  • We have a Savior who loves us unconditionally
  • When we pray, He hears us.
  • When we make mistakes, He is there to forgive us.
  • When we are lost or overwhelmed, He is always there, never failing.
  • He is always there to supply our needs.

The list could go on and on. Take a moment today to think about what you have to be glad about. God’s goodness, faithfulness, and grace never run out. So yes, that’s about it, friends. Let’s take our stand, right here and right now, and simply be glad in God.
