Donkeys hold a special place in the story of Jesus’ birth. These humble creatures, chosen by God to transport Mary and baby Jesus to Bethlehem, embody qualities of gentleness, humility, and protectiveness. As donkey owners, we’ve witnessed firsthand their sweet souls and humble spirits, offering a glimpse into why they were God’s choice.
❤️ Sweet Souls of Donkeys: These creatures are more than just cute animals; they are full of warmth and kindness. Their expressive eyes and soft nuzzles reveal a tender nature. Importantly, they are also fiercely protective, always alert to safeguard those in their care. Mary and Joseph likely felt not just their comfort but also the security they provided on their journey.
❤️ Humble Spirits in Service: Beyond their gentle and protective nature, donkeys are epitomes of humility. Their presence in the nativity scene isn’t just symbolic; it’s a profound lesson in modesty and service. The donkey’s journey with Mary and Joseph, carrying them safely and steadfastly, is a testament to embracing life’s roles with grace, dignity, and a protective vigilance.
Our experience with donkeys deepens our appreciation for their role in the Christmas story. They teach us about love, compassion, humility, every single day.
