Zinnias are one of the most perfect summer flowers. They come is a variety of colors, are so easy to grow, and they just keep on blooming! Here are some tips to get the best from your zinnias!
️⃣Full Sun: Ensure your zinnias get at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily.
️⃣ Well-Drained Soil: Plant in well-drained soil to prevent root rot and ensure healthy growth.
️⃣ Smart Spacing: Space plants 6-18 inches apart to allow for air circulation and prevent disease.
️⃣ Water at the Base: Water the soil, not the leaves, to reduce the risk of mildew and other fungal issues.
️⃣ Deadhead Regularly: Remove spent blooms to encourage continuous flowering throughout the season.
️⃣ Natural Fertilizer: Use natural fertilizers like BugHut brand or I make compost tea from the farm every 4-6 weeks for vibrant blooms.
️⃣ Mulch: Apply mulch around the base to retain moisture and control weeds.
️⃣ Pinch Early: Pinch back young plants to promote bushier growth and more flowers. I don’t always do this… but I try!
️⃣ Support: Give your plants support by using stakes or flower netting over your beds to prevent taller zinnias from falling over.
🔟 Proper Picking: Pick zinnias when the stem is firm, not wobbly. A sturdy stem means it’s time to harvest for beautiful, long-lasting bouquets!
