For some reason I crave sourdough in the fall. It is a cycle at our home! I revived my starter “Hazel” and jumped into my season of baking again after taking a summer break. It really doesn’t have to be hard and I don’t weigh or knead much at all. I’m a fan of making something that works in my schedule, not against it.
🍞✨ Easy Sourdough Bread for Busy Folks!✨🍞
Ingredients:
– 1 cup active sourdough starter
– 1 ½ cups warm water
– 2 tsp salt
– 4 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions:
*️⃣ I feed my starter in the morning and leave it out for the day. When I get home from work… I start this…
Day 1 PM
1️⃣ Mix: Combine starter, water, salt, and flour in a large bowl. Stir until it comes together.
2️⃣ Rest: Cover and let the dough rest for 30 minutes.
3️⃣ Stretch & Fold: Every 30 minutes for the next 2 hours, stretch & fold the dough in the bowl. (Only takes 1 minute!)
4️⃣ Bulk Ferment: Cover and let the dough rise for 8-10 hours (perfect overnight- go to bed or place it in the fridge if you won’t bake until later the next day).
Day 2 PM
5️⃣ Shape & Rest: The next afternoon. I take it out of the fridge…Shape the dough and let it rise for 1-2 hours.
6️⃣ Bake: Preheat oven to 450°F. Bake for 20 minutes with a lid, then 25 minutes uncovered.
Voila and it is delicious!!! Perfect for fitting around your busy schedule! ⏰ sometimes I double the recipe—just as easy to make 2 loaves!
