When I (Jules) ran half marathons, there were moments when fatigue set in and distractions tugged at me—the cheering crowds, the aches, or my mind drifting. But the key was always to refocus and keep my eyes on the finish line. Life can feel just like that, full of moments that pull us off course.
Philippians 3:14 (The Message) offers clear encouragement:
“By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.”
It’s easy to think we need to have it all figured out to press forward, but Paul reminds us that’s not true. What matters most is staying focused, eyes fixed on Jesus. Even more reassuring is that we’re not running this race alone. God is on the sidelines, like a coach, waving us on with eager expectation and cheering us forward. His invitation is full of love and urgency, calling us closer to Jesus, the ultimate prize.
This week, in a world full of noise and distractions, take a moment each day to refocus your heart and mind on the goal—Jesus. Let this be a reminder to look past the momentary detours and keep your eyes on Him. Remember, God is cheering you on with joy and expectation. Keep your eyes on the prize and don’t look back.
