#FarmSunday Devotional – God’s Design for Your Life

One of my favorite things about living out here on the farm is the night sky. No city lights. No glow on the horizon. Just a black sky so full of stars it almost doesn’t look real. Even after hundreds of nights standing in that same spot it still surprises me — still catches my breath. You just can’t get used to it.

I think about that sky when I read what Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 2:9.

“No one’s eyes have ever seen, nor have their ears ever heard anything like this, never so much as imagined anything quite like it — what God has arranged for those who love him.”

In 1 Corinthians 2:9, Paul provides a New Testament version of an Old Testament scripture found in Isaiah 64:4. In speaking of God’s plans and designs for our life in Jesus Christ, Paul says no eyes have ever seen, nor ears ever heard, nor human mind has ever imagined what God has designed and arranged for our life.

Paul is saying there are no limits, no boundaries, and no constraints to the plans, blessings, promises, and rewards that God through Jesus Christ has in store for us. We cannot begin to understand, comprehend, or imagine the goodness that God wants to bring and give to His children.

Basically — God wants to blow our minds through Jesus Christ.

But here’s the catch.

These indescribable and unimaginable plans and promises are exclusively reserved for those who truly love Jesus Christ with all of their heart, soul, mind, and strength.

And for those who are completely devoted to Jesus Christ, Paul says God’s Holy Spirit will reveal the deepest mysteries and promises of God.

Wow. How awesome is this? The same God who created the sun, moon, stars, and galaxies is the same God who has built a design for your life. He has arranged things for you that your eyes have never seen and your mind has never imagined.

This week, let’s reverently and genuinely ask God to reveal through His Spirit the incredible blessings and promises we have in Jesus Christ. They are already arranged. Already prepared. Already waiting.

We just have to ask.

Now that’s BombDiggity.
