Be Still and Know | Farm Sunday Devotional

Farm Sunday devotional graphic reading Be Still and Know, with Psalm 46:10

The fast pace of juggling so many things — maybe this speaks to mothers especially today, but really, it’s for all of us.

Life can be overwhelming. There are so many demands pulling on our time, energy, and attention. We try to keep it all together, reaching for strategies to manage the chaos — but sometimes, those very efforts leave us more drained than before.

A Quiet Command

And yet, in the middle of it all, God offers this quiet command:

“Be still and know that I am God.”

Psalm 46:10 (The Message)

Be still. Not do more. Not try harder. Just be still and know that He is God.

He’s in control. He’s working, even when we’re worn out. It’s a full stop reminder that He’s in complete control. He doesn’t need our help. He’s already victorious over whatever life is serving up. He is sufficient to meet every need.

So on this Mother’s Day — and in all the days that follow — let’s stop striving and rest in the truth that He’s got us. That’s not weakness. That’s peace.

Taking It Into Your Week

  • Take five minutes today with nothing in your hands and nothing playing. Five. That is the whole assignment.
  • Notice which of your coping strategies is leaving you more tired than the problem was.
  • If you are a mother, let someone else carry something this week without you supervising it.
