Scripture: Ephesians 1:11-12 (The Message)
In our journey through life (young and old), we all seek understanding of who we are and what our purpose is. We often turn to self-help books, attend workshops, or turn inward, hoping to uncover our true selves and life’s meaning.
Here’s the Good News…the search for meaning and purpose in life are over!
In Ephesians 1:11-12, The Apostle Paul gently reminds us that our true identity and purpose are found in Jesus Christ.
Paul says: “It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.”
Imagine a master artist who, long before picking up the brush, sees an incredible masterpiece in their mind. Just like that, God imagined and crafted a unique design for our lives, inviting us into a journey of “glorious living.” This isn’t about a life free from challenges (far from it!) but it is one filled with meaning, direction, belonging, and a deep sense of purpose.
The beauty of this divine plan is its includes everyone. God’s weaves each of our stories into His master plan. By nurturing a genuine relationship with Christ, we begin to see ourselves through His eyes—cherished, purposeful, and important to His work in the world.
Take a few moments to reflect on this profound truth. Our ultimate purpose goes beyond personal achievements or what society expects of us— it is a deeper opportunity to reflect God’s glory in our own unique ways—-Glorious living that God has designed! Embrace your identity in Christ and let His love and purpose guide your steps.
