This week at Sweet Bombdiggity Farms, our hearts are a bit of a mixed lot. We find ourselves missing Poppa Max (Lane’s Dad) dearly, but we also celebrate his incredible heart and ministry. He always reminded us of a simple yet profound truth: make the most of every opportunity. The key that unlocks those opportunities was hustle words. Dad genuinely engaged others in ways that made them feel like they were the most important person in the world.
Let’s reflect on Colossians 4:5-6 (The Message)
“Use your heads as you live and work among outsiders. Don’t miss a trick. Make the most of every opportunity. Be gracious in your speech. The goal is to bring out the best in others in a conversation, not put them down, not cut them out.”
Poppa Max embodied this scripture perfectly. He was a master at using his words to uplift and encourage. Whether it was a heartfelt “I love you” or a thoughtful compliment, Poppa knew that his words carried weight. He was intentional with them, always aiming to bring out the beauty in people.
How often do we take the time to carefully season our words with others? To be gracious, to lift them up, to be a gift that truly touches their hearts? Our words have the power to build up or tear down, to heal or to hurt. Let’s strive to follow Poppa’s example and be more intentional with our speech.
This week, let’s all make an effort to season our words a little more, to lift people up and encourage them. Let’s bring out the best in others, just as Poppa did.
And as we sign off this week, we leave you with Poppa’s favorite true and seasoned farewell: “Jesus loves you, and so do we.”
Have a blessed week.
