FarmSunday Devotional: Reap What You Sow

“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.” Galatians 6:7-8 (NKJV) is

In life, we are constantly planting something—whether through our words, actions, or even our thoughts. Galatians 6:7-8 makes it clear that what we plant, we will eventually harvest. If we sow selfishness, only thinking of our own desires, the harvest will be nothing but weeds—empty, fleeting results that don’t last. But God has something so much better for us.

God wants to plant something extraordinary in your life: the fruits of His Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23 reminds us of what those fruits are—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. When we plant in response to God’s Spirit, allowing Him to guide our choices, this is the beautiful harvest that will grow within us. These fruits don’t just bless us; they also bless those around us and bring eternal life—a life deeply rooted in God’s grace and filled with His goodness.

The choice is ours! Take a moment to think about what you are planting in your life. Are your actions, thoughts, and words leading to a harvest of weeds, or are you being intentional about responding to God’s spirit?
