Residing in God’s Love | Farm Sunday Devotional

It’s #FarmSunday, and we are focusing on 1 John 4:17 this week. The Message version reads,

“God is love. When we take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us. This way, love has the run of the house, becomes at home and mature in us, so that we’re free of worry on Judgment Day—our standing in the world is identical with Christ’s.”

Think about what it means to let love have “the run of the house” in your life. It’s like opening every door and window and letting a fresh breeze blow through each room. When love fills us up, it changes how we see everything and everyone around us. Love completes and matures in us, and suddenly, we find that the fears and worries we face aren’t so daunting anymore.

Why? Because our identity aligns with Christ’s. When people see us, they also see Christ in us. We’re living in Him, and He’s living in us, and that’s a powerful truth that casts out fear. What a witness and testimony to others.

So, as we go about this week, let’s challenge ourselves to really live in that truth. Let’s try to see others the way Christ sees them and let God’s love thru us guide our actions and words. Truth: It’s not always easy, but it’s what we’re called to do.

Be blessed!
