#FarmSunday Finding Perfect Purpose in Him

Growing up, Lane always felt a sense of pride whenever people remarked how much he resembled, looked, sounded, or acted like his Dad or Mom. It was more than just a physical resemblance; it was a deeper connection, a part of his identity that linked him to his parents.

This notion of resemblance and connection brings to mind a powerful message from Colossians 1:15-16, as translated in The Message Version.

Paul invites us to see Christ as He is — the Son of God, both in personal appearance and powerful purpose. He writes,

“We look at this Son and see the God who cannot be seen. We look at this Son and see God’s original purpose in everything created. For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, rank after rank after rank of angels – everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him.”

Just like Lane’s resemblance to his parents, we (as children of God), in our own existence and in all creation, bear the invisible mark and full purpose of our Creator.

Everything in the universe, from the tiniest microbe to the vastness of space, from the visible beauty of a blooming field to the invisible forces that hold the universe together, everything originated from God and finds its ultimate meaning and purpose in Him. This verse reminds us that as believers, our existence is not random; rather, it is divinely purposeful and deeply connected to Christ.

Just like Lane’s resemblance to his parents giving him a sense of identity, our lives too are a reflection of the divine. In everything we see and everything we don’t, in the wonders of nature and the mysteries yet to be uncovered, we find the fingerprints of God, guiding us towards our true purpose in glorifying Him.
