We Shout Hosanna! | Farm Sunday Devotional

Farm Sunday devotional graphic reading We Shout Hosanna!, with Matthew 21:9

During the Christmas season, Christians everywhere celebrate the arrival of the Savior in the birth of Jesus Christ.

And as we enter the Easter season with Palm Sunday, we remember another arrival—Jesus Christ, the Savior’s triumphant entry into the city of Jerusalem.

As Jesus entered the city, the people in the crowd laid their coats down on the road, giving Him a royal welcome.

Waving palm branches they had cut from trees, they called out:

Hosanna to the Son of David.

Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!

Hosanna in the highest!

In Matthew 21:9, the word Hosanna, as shouted by the people at the city gates, carried deep meaning.

To some, it was an expression of praise—adoration, joy, and excitement—as they celebrated the long-awaited Savior, Liberator, and Anointed One who had finally arrived.

To others, Hosanna was a cry—a plea for help and salvation.

A desperate shout:

“Lord, please save us. Please save us now.”

Today, as we remember and celebrate Palm Sunday, let us do both.

Let us rejoice and celebrate Jesus Christ. Let us bless and worship His name.

And as we celebrate Him, let us also remember that He has brought us the hope of eternal salvation.

For those who trust and believe in Him, Jesus has come to forgive, deliver, redeem, and restore.

So today, we join in that same cry—

“Hosanna in the highest.”
