Marketing Mondays: Roadmap to Market Your Farm or Maker Business.

As promised, I am going to start offering some marketing resources and info to my fellow farmers and makers! 🌿🛠️ I have been a marketer for 30+ years, teach digital marketing at The Univerisity of Tennessee, Knoxville and have had my own small form for over 10 years (more here if you want to read that) It just so happens that my passion is YOU! If you’re running a farm or maker business, you know that getting your products out there is essential for success. These are broad topics—a roadmap of sorts, and I’ll be digging in and drilling down to bring you more details and specific how-to’s to help you market your farm products and awesome creations.

Let’s grow your business!

Social Media Magic: Embrace the power of social media to connect with your audience! Snap some drool-worthy pics of your farm-fresh produce or handmade goodies. Share behind-the-scenes stories and engage with your followers. Whether it’s Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok, Twitter, or even Pinterest let your creativity shine with amazing content and let the world know what you’re all about!

Farmer’s Market Frenzy: If you’re into farming, why not join local farmer’s markets? Setting up a charming stall can attract curious customers who appreciate fresh, locally sourced products. Offer some samples and friendly smiles – you’ll be surprised how word-of-mouth can work wonders!

“Homegrown” Branding: Own your uniqueness and create a brand that reflects your farm or maker identity. A catchy logo, eco-friendly packaging, or even a quirky slogan can make your business stand out from the crowd. Be authentic, and people will be drawn to your passion!

Online Presence: A website or an online store is a must-have in today’s digital age. It’s like having a 24/7 shop that caters to customers! Make it user-friendly, showcase your products with love, and don’t forget to sprinkle some customer testimonials for that extra trust boost. There are so many easy and user-friendly web design options today!

Be Google-y: Make it easy for Google to find you. Set up a Google Business listing. It doesn’t take long, and you can quickly appear in searches!

Collaborate & Cross-Pollinate: Team up with local businesses or fellow makers and growers to cross-promote each other’s offerings. A joint event or giveaway can create a buzz and introduce new customers to your farm-to-table delights or handcrafted masterpieces.

Newsletter Nourishment: Start a fun and informative newsletter to keep your loyal customers in the loop. Share seasonal recipes, DIY ideas, or stories from your farm adventures. This also allows you to collect email addresses which are far more reliable than social media.

Green Thumb on YouTube: Video content is performing, so why not show off your farm or maker skills on YouTube? From planting tips to crafting tutorials, share your knowledge, and you’ll be cultivating a community of enthusiasts! You must be diligent and stay at it. It doesn’t happen over night!

Remember, marketing your farm or maker business is not just about selling products – it’s about connecting with people who share your passion for sustainable living and handmade goodness. So, go out there, sprinkle some charm, and let your farm or maker business bloom! 🌷🌟

Happy marketing, making, and growing! 🚜
