Who needs to color eggs for Easter when our hens do it naturally? We never tire of gathering their vibrant blue, greens, browns, cream and even pink eggs – all courtesy of Mother Nature herself. The incredible array of hues comes straight from the breeds of chickens that call our coop home. Here is a quick color key from our flock:
🐓🩵 Fact: Breeds like Ameraucanas and Araucanas lay beautiful blue eggs.
🐓🤎🤎 Fact: Marans chickens lay an array of deeply colored chocolate brown eggs as do our Wellsummers (which are also speckled!)
🐓 🩷💚🤍 Fact: Cream, pink and olive egg colors come from breeds like Easter and Olive Eggers. And Starlight Green Eggers never fail to lay the palest mint egg.
🐓🤎🤍 Fact: Barred Rock, Buff Orpington, ISA Browns, and Barnevelders lay beautiful shades of light brown eggs—some are even speckled.
