Last year, we built three-section compost bins at Sweet Bombdiggity Farms, and the garden gold they produce is simply amazing! Composting is an easy and fantastic way to enrich your soil, and you can start small!
Here’s why making your own compost is a great idea:
1️⃣ Improves Soil: Especially if you have challenging clay soil like we do here in East Tennessee. I use all our compost to amend our ground beds.

What Can You Compost?
– Fruit and vegetable scraps
– Coffee grounds and filters
– Eggshells

– Small branches and twigs
– Shredded newspaper
– Cardboard

– Hair and fur
– Yard trimmings
REMINDER: Never add pet feces (like from cats or dogs) to your compost. It can contain harmful pathogens. Stick to plant-based and non-meat organic waste. Here is a blog post we did last year about that!
A fun tip: I plant mint around our compost bins. It smells yummy, and who cares if it takes over?
