Spa Day for My Chickens – Nesting Box Set-Up

Eaton Pet and Pasture Roost Refresh and Nesting Pads in natural packaging sitting on top of chicken coop

Spa Day for my chickens! At Sweet Bombdiggity Farms, we believe our animals deserve the very best—our Knoxville hens are no exception! After all, they’re laying those beautiful eggs just for us, so why not make their nesting boxes a cozy, spa-like retreat?

I use pretty much everything from Eaton Pet and Pasture, and I absolutely LOVE their products. Here’s how I prep our nesting boxes:

🌸 Aspen Nesting Pads
These are my go-to for lining the nesting boxes. They’re soft, natural, and compostable! My girls nestle down into the pads and create their happy place—it’s so easy. Just slide the pads in, and the chickens do the rest. Bonus: when it’s time to replace them, they can go straight into the compost bin! The garden thrives on them, which feeds my chickens, which feeds us—a perfect little cycle of sustainability.

✨ Roost Refresh
This stuff is a total game-changer! I sprinkle it in the nesting boxes to keep things clean and fresh, and I even use it on my poop shelf (yes, that’s a thing!) to neutralize odors and moisture. It’s easy to apply, natural, and works like magic. Honestly, I use it everywhere—it’s just that good.
