Winter Barn Tips ❄️ As winter settles in, it’s time to cozy up the barn for our mini donkeys and horses. The chill in the air calls for deeper, softer bedding to ensure our animals stay warm and comfortable. We use FINE pine shavings from @TractorSupply inside the barn. Not only do they provide a soft cushion, but they’re also a breeze to clean and the flakes fall through the rake!
We get teased because we keep such a clean barn but we’re actually proud of that fact! A clean barn isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s essential for maintaining hoof and overall animal health.
Regular cleaning means the bedding lasts longer, too. Lane, our chief barn mucker, keeps the barn in tip top shape. And I am immensely grateful for his hard work that makes our barn a cozy winter haven for our four-legged friends.

1️⃣ Use FINE Pine Bedding (thick!)
2️⃣ Remove any manure or urine spots daily (take it straight to the compost pile!) (sometimes 2x a day if you need to) It helps to have a chief barn mucker!
3️⃣ Use an ammonia neutralizer like PDZ Refresher on any urine spots after clean up. (Also from Tractor Supply!)
