The Gift of Easter | Farm Sunday Devotional

Farm Sunday devotional graphic reading The Gift of Easter, with Romans 5:6-11

It’s Easter morning — a day filled with hope, fresh starts, and the reminder that the greatest rescue story ever told is ours to claim.

Last Sunday we looked hard at the road He walked into Jerusalem. This is where that road was going.

Our Condition

Before Jesus, we were hopeless — powerless, rebellious, spiritually bankrupt, and completely lost. Because of our sins, we weren’t just distant from God; we were His enemies, unable to save ourselves.

God’s Compassion Through Jesus Christ

But God’s love didn’t leave us there. He required a perfect sacrifice for forgiveness — and Jesus Christ stepped forward willingly. In the greatest act of compassion, God put His love fully on the line by offering His only Son to rescue us.

Our Change

Through confession and acceptance of Jesus Christ as our Savior, everything changes. We are no longer enemies of God, but His beloved children. Our lives expand, deepen, and are made new through the resurrected life of Jesus Christ. Because He lives, our life becomes worth living.

Because of this good news, we can sing and shout, “Hallelujah and Amen!” Through Jesus Christ, we have been rescued, redeemed, and reconciled with God.

“Christ arrives right on time to make this happen. He didn’t, and doesn’t, wait for us to get ready. He presented himself for this sacrificial death when we were far too weak and rebellious to do anything to get ourselves ready.”

Romans 5:6-11 (The Message)

Taking It Into Your Week

  • Read Romans 5 slowly today. Notice how much of it happened before you did anything at all.
  • Tell one person the rescue story this week, in your own words, without polishing it.
  • Carry Easter past today. It was never meant to be a one-morning holiday.
