1️⃣ Safety First: Make sure it’s safe to pull over and that you’re not putting yourself or others in danger.
2️⃣ Direction Matters: Always move the turtle in the direction it was headed. Turning it around can confuse it and take it away from its home and food supply.
3️⃣ Gentle Handling: If it’s a small turtle, pick it up by the shell, holding it gently on both sides near the back. For larger turtles, like snapping turtles, use a stick to coax them or gently push them from behind.
4️⃣ Avoid the Tail: Never pick a turtle up by its tail—it can cause serious injury.
5️⃣ Help Across: Move the turtle to a safe spot well off the road, but still in the direction it was going.
