This morning, Lane was feeding our sweet little goat crew their hay when he suddenly stopped—just stood there for a moment listening to them crunch and watching them move around their new hay feeder. He told me how thankful he felt in that simple moment… thankful that we could give that hay to them, thankful for the peace of it, and how he saw the quiet goodness of God woven into an ordinary chore.

Moments like that remind us of Paul’s encouragement in Colossians 3:16 to “cultivate thankfulness.” Gratitude doesn’t wait for big miracles or perfect days—it grows in the everyday rhythms where God is already present. When we slow down enough to notice, even the simplest tasks become places where His Word settles into our hearts, His peace steadies us, and our thankfulness begins to take root.
Spiritually, Paul is calling us to intentionally and consistently develop a mindset of thanksgiving—to consciously focus on the sources of Jesus Christ’s goodness in our lives.
He draws our attention to three places:
First: The Word of Christ.
Paul says, “Let scripture have run of the house.” Let God’s Word completely permeate every place in your life—every thought, every mediation, every deed, and every word that comes out of your mouth. Let all of them be acceptable to God and aligned with the Word of Jesus Christ.
Second: Sing.
“Sing your hearts out to God.” Let your heart’s song be one of rejoicing and praise.
Finally: Let every detail be done in Jesus’ name.
Every action, every choice, every step carries purpose when surrendered to Him.
This week, may we truly cultivate thankfulness—letting Scripture guide us, letting praise rise in us, and letting every detail reflect the goodness of Jesus Christ.
Now that’s BombDiggity!
