I know it’s tough, but pruning your dahlias before they bloom is key to a more bountiful display! Here’s how I do it.
1️⃣ Use Sharp Tools: Make sure your scissors or pruners are sharp and clean.
2️⃣ Make the Cut : Trim the main stem at a 45-degree angle right above the third set of leaves.
3️⃣ Wait and Be Encouraged: This cut will encourage your dahlia to branch out, resulting in more stems and ultimately more blooms.
I know it’s painful, but stay with me… you can do it! Your dahlias will reward you with an explosion of beautiful flowers. 🌼✨ Now that’s BombDiggity!
Same idea applies across the cutting garden, which is why I keep a pinch list. Zinnias respond just as well, and here are my 10 tips for BombDiggity zinnias.
